Talent and Aveiro

We are building our analyst team in Aveiro by developing people, rather than competing for the few experienced analysts available.

Why Aveiro

Aveiro sits on the main rail line between Lisbon and Porto, beside the Ria de Aveiro lagoon. It is home to the Universidade de Aveiro, with strong engineering and information technology programmes, and to a growing technology community.

It is also a place people choose to stay, which matters when you invest in developing them.

A supervised programme

We are establishing a supervised analyst development programme with the Universidade de Aveiro. It is modelled on the cybersecurity internship programmes our managing director, David Stevens, built at the University of Hawaiʻi.

From L1 to L2

  1. Join

Students will join as trainee analysts, employed in Portugal.

  2. Supervised triage

For one to two semesters, trainees triage alerts under defined escalation rules and the direct supervision of qualified analysts.

  3. Progress to L2

Further training and supervised practice prepare trainees for L2 analyst work.

  4. Permanent roles

The strongest are offered permanent, qualified positions in Portugal.

Clear boundaries

Clients are told about the supervision model in their contract.

  • Trainees triage alerts. They do not carry out incident response, containment or forensic work.
  • Client-facing escalation stays with qualified, permanent staff.
  • Every trainee works under the direct supervision of a qualified analyst.

Qualified work in Portugal

The programme exists to create qualified security roles in Portugal. Trainees will be hired and trained here, and the strongest will stay here in permanent positions.
